Happy Pajama Day!
Instead of bananas in pajamas, we
had preschoolers in pajamas! There was so much excitement in the air.
Lots of eager students excited to show off their pajamas and
slippers!!
We are wrapping up our study of the
"circle" today. Today we practiced tracing the circle with our fingers,
with a crayon and finally drew the circle by ourselves. I am so proud
of how well everyone has done! I can't wait to start our new shape next
week!
For our large movement activity, we played
musical chairs. We had so much fun dancing to the music as we were
going around our circle!
Our story today was "The
Napping House" By Audrey Wood. On a cozy bed lie a snoring granny, a
dreaming child, a dozing dog, a snoozing cat, and a tiny slumbering
mouse. But then an unexpected visitor arrives to interrupt this rainy
afternoon at the napping house.....where no one was now is sleeping! Ask
your child who the unexpected visitor was!!
Savannah was our snack leader today, she brought mandarin oranges and cheese sticks. Thank you, Savannah!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! See you on Tuesday!!!

Happy Tuesday!!
It was so nice to see everyone at school today. It sounds like everyone had a great weekend.
We used our movement cube today, it now has new movements. We waddled like penguins, floated like snowflakes, rolled like snowballs, slipped on the ice, shoveled snow and a few other actions. We have so much fun using the movement cube!!
When we were sitting together in a circle, I asked our class "What games can you play if you are sitting in a circle" lots of different games were thrown out, but one that was the most popular was Duck, Duck, Goose. How can you turn down that fun game?!? I was so proud of how well everyone did playing, cheering and waiting their turn.
Our story today was "Bears in the Snow" By Shirley Parenteau. This is a cute story about four little bears, who go play in the snow. The also invite their friend Big Brown Bear. However, they only have one sled!! The little bears know that they need to take turns and only two friends will fit on the sled. But, they all want to try and fit on the sled. So, down the hill they go......until some start falling off!! But then, Big Brown Bear has an idea!! Ask you child what his idea was.
Sarvesh was our snack leader today. He brought yogurt, strawberries and granola. Thank you, Sarvesh!!
We are VERY excited that Thursday is PAJAMA DAY!! I am sure that your child will continue to remind you over and over until Thursday!!

Happy Monday!!!
We had some very excited children telling stories of playing in the snow. There were lots of snowmen, snow forts and snow ball fights.
Our story today was "The Magical Snowman" By Catherine Walters. Little Rabbit made a wonderful snowman and doesn't want to leave him. However, his father needs him to help collect berries for dinner. Little Rabbit got so focused in collecting berries, that he didn't realize that it had started to snow. The wind was blowing the snow that Little Rabbits tracks were covered, he realized that he was lost and got scared. Little Rabbit started to panic, all of a sudden his snowman appeared, He scooped Little Rabbit up and started to help him home. They went down hills and skated over a frozen pond. All of a sudden Little Rabbit heard his Dad yelling his name! He was so happy!! Little Rabbit was telling his Dad how the snowman had helped him find his way home. Ask your child what Father Rabbit thought of the snowman helping.
Do you want to build a snowman? Well, that is exactly what we did!! We played with real, cold, wet snow!!! Can you believe it?!? We had cups, spoons, buttons, pipe cleaners and cotton balls, Each group worked together and made some beautiful snowman!! Boy were our hands cold!!
Joel was our snack leader today. He brought bananas, Belvita bars and milk. Thank you, Joel!!
Don't forget Wednesday is Pajama Day!! I'm sure your child will continue to remind you, as they are all very excited!

Happy BLUE Day!
It was so nice to see everyone wearing different shades of blue today. Our class loves those special days to dress up!
We have have been talking about the circle this month, how to draw them, what they look like and starting to recognize them in various objects. Today our cooking activity was pancakes!! We had some very excited children! We mixed, stirred and poured the batter on the heated griddle. They loved to hear the sizzle of the batter on the hot griddle. Ask your child what shape our pancakes were in!
Our pancakes sure smelled good when we were cooking them. Pancakes aren't complete with out toppings!! We placed chocolate chips on our pancakes, and turned them into snowmen. Some of us even dipped them into syrup. Boy were they yummy!! We celebrated January birthdays, and sang Happy Birthday to Keaton, Andi and Maile!! We also had cutie oranges brought by Hudson. Thank you, Hudson!
Our story today was "The Snowy Day" By Ezra Jack Keats. Peter wakes up to the season's first snowfall. In his bright red snowsuit, he goes outside and makes footprints and trails through the snow. He makes a snowman, some snow angels and goes sliding down a hill. When its time to go home, he makes a snowball and puts it in his pocket for the next day. After bath time, Peter checks on his snowball. He is sad to see that it has melted. Ask your child what Peter saw out his window the next morning.
I hope you all have a great weekend!! See you on Monday!!

Our story today was "Stella Queen of the Snow" By Marie-Louise Gay. Sam had never seen snow before. When it finally started to snow his sister Stella, took him out to play. Sam was full of all sorts of questions, and Stella seemed to have an answer for all of them.. How many snowflakes are in a snowball? Do birds get goosebumps? Why is fog coming out of my mouth? However, Stella's answers seemed a tad on the silly side. Ask your child what some of Stella's answers were.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and stay warm!

Happy Tuesday!!
I think that we had some disappointed children today that were so excited for the snow that was supposed to come this weekend.
We have been working really hard with learning how to draw a circle. Today we drew a large, medium and small circle.......can you guess what we made? A snowman!!! I was so proud of how well everyone did drawing their circles. We drew eyes, carrot noses and a perfect little smile. Some even drew stick arms!
Our story today was "The Biggest Snowman Ever" By Steven Kroll. The mayor of Mouseville announced that there was going to be a town snowman contest. "Whoever makes the biggest snowman will win a prize!" All of the mice were excited! Of course all of the mice went straight to work building their snowmen. One mouse built a princess, while another built a snow martian. There were two mice named Clayton and Desmond, working hard in the field building their snowman. They rolled, and rolled their snowballs stacking them up on each other. When Clayton and Desmond walked around together looking at the other snowmen, they realized that all the snowmen were the same size! How were they going to win this contest? Desmond and Clayton decided to work together. Ask your child what happened when they decided to work as a team.
Matthew was our snack leader today. He brought crispy rice rolls and milk. Thank you, Matthew!!

Happy Thursday!!
I think we are getting back into the swing of things. Everyone is so happy to see their friends, you can feel the excitement in the air!
We worked on our fine motor skills today, by helping a lonely snowman get to his clothes. We had to trace the dotted lines to the different articles of clothing. I was blown away at how well everyone did tracing their lines. Each one of the children have come so far. We also played with our parachute today, pretending that we were swimming in the ocean. Sometimes our waves were big, and sometimes they were small. Ask your child what their favorite wave was.
Our story today was "Snowman Magic" By Katherine Tegen. When George stays home from school for a snow day, he can't resist going outside. He gets himself dressed, and out into the beautiful white snow he goes! George starts rolling the snow into balls and makes a snowman. Complete with a scarf, hat, arms and a perfect face. But, out of the corner of his eye he sees his snowman smirk. When he offers him hot chocolate, his snowman starts talking and tells George he would rather have cookies! It was magic!!! George and his snowman have so much fun together. But, as the days go by and the sun comes out his snowman starts to change. By the end of the week, the sun was shining and George's snowman was just a heap of clothing. George was sad, all he wanted to do was play with his snowman. When George woke up the next morning, it was snowing!! Ask your child what George decided to do!
Linc was our snack leader today. He brought yogurt and bananas. Thank you, Linc!
Don't forget registration for next year is on Saturday. A note went home in your child's bag with some information regarding sign up. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Welcome Back!!
I think that everyone was very excited to be back at school. It was so sweet to see everyone greet each other today.
We talked about it being a New Year, and some even knew that it was 2020. We used the bingo daubers, and filled in a 2020 that was on paper. I am so pleased to see how well everyone did with their hand eye coordination.
Our story today was "Snowmen at night" By Caralyn and Mark Buehner. The little boy built a snowman, but when he woke up the next morning his snowman looked a little shorter, and had a grin on his face. It made him start to wonder what do snowmen do at night? Ask your child what the neighborhood snowmen were doing at night.
James was our snack leader today. He brought cheese sticks and grapes. Thank you, James!!

Holden was our snack leader today. He brought cheese sticks and wheat thins. Thank you, Holden!!
See you all on Wednesday!!
