We have been working really hard on our Christmas Program, the children are are very excited to share it with you on Wednesday!

Our story today was "There was an old lady who swallowed a bell" By Lucille Colandro.  That crazy old lady was back!!  She swallowed a bell that jingled and jangled and tickled as well!!Then she swallowed some bows, gifts, a sack, a sleigh, and some reindeer!! She's about to swallow a candy cane for dessert, when she hears a jolly "Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa Claus is waiting for a ride! Ask your child what happens when she whistles!

Haiden was our snack leader today.  She brought cottage cheese and peaches.  Thank you, Haiden!!

Happy GREEN Day!!!

It was so much fun seeing everyone wearing green today!!  The class was so excited to  show off their green to their friends.

We have been practicing so hard for our upcoming Winter Program, they are getting so excited with the thought of singing for all of you! Today we practiced our songs on the risers, so that they will get used to the idea of standing on them.  I can’t wait for you to see it!

One of my favorite things to do this time of year, is make Christmas cookies. Today we did just that!!! Well, actually our dough was play dough that smells like sugar cookies! We rolled out the dough, and cut of cookies with festive cookie cutters.

We love when it’s cooking day!!! Today we made a pattern with our cooking. We made candy canes, but not the peppermint kind. Our candy canes were made out of string cheese and strawberries.  Ask your child what kind of pattern they made on their candy cane.  Instead of enjoying our usual birthday brownies, we decorated cookies!! Can you guess what color our frosting was?  Green, of course!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy the snow!! Some notes went home today regarding the Winter Program next week. Also, we will be having a silly hat, bow or headband day on Tuesday.  It can be Christmas themed if you would like!  I can't wait to see what the children wear.

See you all on Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday!

Boy!! It seems like December is just flying by!!  With the excitement of Christmas in the air, we have been hearing all sorts of Santa sightings, elf happenings and train rides.  It sounds like everyone had a fun and busy weekend!

We are working hard learning our songs for our upcoming program next week.. We can't wait to share them all with you!

Our story today was "Penguin and Pinecone" By Salina Yoon.  This is a very cute story about a penguin who finds a pinecone.  He loves playing with the pinecone, but his grandfather tells him that where they live it is too cold for the pinecone to grow.  He puts a scarf on the pinecone to keep him nice and warm.  One day Penguin takes pinecone into the warm forest, and makes a nice cozy nest for him to snuggle in.  He said goodbye, and headed back to his home.  As the year went by, Penguin couldn't stop thinking about his friend pinecone.  So, Penguin went back to the forest to visit pinecone.  Ask your child what Penguin found when he went to visit pinecone.

Today at our table tops, we put our own scarfs on pinecones.  However, our scarves were pipe cleaners.  I was really proud of how well everyone did winding their pipe cleaners on the pinecones.  We tied ribbons on the pinecones and hung them on our Christmas tree in our classroom.

Ellie was our snack leader today.  She brought yogurt and bananas.  Thank you, Ellie!!

Don't forget to wear GREEN on Thursday, as it is our Birthday and Cooking Day!

Happy Sunny Thursday!

It was so nice to see the sun shining today when we came to school  We took advantage of warmth of the sun, and went outside to play.  Our class was so excited to run around and get some fresh air in our lungs!!

We have been working hard on our songs for our upcoming Winter Program in a few weeks, I'm sure that you have maybe heard some of them already.

Our story today was "Ten Gingerbread Men" By Ruth Galloway.  Ten friendly gingerbread men were going on an adventure.  Each time there was one less gingerbread man.  However, there was a surprise ending that happened.  Ask your child what it was.  This was a simple countdown book, that the children got so excited about.  They were so proud of themselves that they knew the next number that was coming in the book.

Dylan was our snack leader today. He brought cheese sticks, carrots and peanut butter.  Thank you, Dylan!!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  See you on Tuesday!!

Happy December!!

Welcome back!!  From all of the stories this morning, I heard that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Lots of time spent with family and friends.  I even heard stories about shopping on Black Friday. However, I have to say the most excitement came when we started talking about it being December, and all the things that happen in December.  I really enjoyed hearing the stories of the silly elves that are visiting your house!

Our movement cube changed to all things December!  We marched like toy soldiers, rolled like ornaments, spread our branches, pranced like reindeer and a few others.  Ask your child which one was their favorite.

Our story today was "The Hat"  By Jan Brett.  Lisa was hanging her winter clothes on the line outside to air them up.  All of a sudden, the wind blew and one of her woolen stocking landed on Hedgie the Hedgehog!  It got stuck on one of his quills, and so he had to walk around the farm with a sock stuck to his head like a hat.  When he encountered the other animals on the farm, they kept asking why the stocking was on his head.  He told all the animals that he was preparing for the winter and the snow that was coming.  He was going to be nice and toasty warm.  When Lisa saw that her stocking was stuck on Hedgie, she started laughing and chased after him. By the time she got back to her clothes line, all of her clothes were missing!!  Ask your child what happened to all of Lisa's clothes.

Connor was our snack leader today.  He brought cereal and bananas.  Thank you, Connor!!

See you all on Thursday!!!

Happy Tuesday!

You can tell by the excitement in the air, that the kids are ready for Thanksgiving and a break from school!  I have heard lots of stories about Grandparents coming to visit, or trips that you are taking.

The weather was cooperating, and the playground was calling our names!  It was so nice to run around and get some fresh air!  We ran around, rode the bikes, played in the house and played some basketball.  I don't think anyone wanted to come back in!

Our story today was "'Twas the Night before Thanksgiving" By Dav Pilkey.  The kids at school take a field trip to the farm, and meet farmer Mack Nugget.  While meeting the farmer, they see turkeys running about the farm.  One of the children also notices an axe hanging in the barn.  When the farmer tells the children what the axe is for, they decide that they have to save the turkeys!!  The children smuggle the turkeys home, and invite them as guests for Thanksgiving.  Ask your child what was served instead of turkey.

Carson was our snack leader today.  He brought cuties and milk.  Thank you, Carson!

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! See you next week!!

Happy Tuesday!!

It was so nice to see everyone so excited to be at school today!  Too bad it was a wet and soggy morning!

We worked more today with the proper crayon grip.  First we followed the line with our pointer finger, and watched how the lines went up and down.  Then we used our crayons, and drew on the dotted lines.  I was so proud of how well everyone did, and how well everyone was concentrating.

We used our movement cube today.   We rolled like pumpkins, strutted like turkeys, floated like leaves, dropped like acorns and grew like corn.  It was so much fun to get our energy out in different ways.

Our story today was "I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed A Pie" By Alison Jackson.  The old lady who comes for dinner had brought a mouthwatering pie and a huge appetite!!  She swallowed the whole pie before they had even sat down to eat! Then goes does the jug of cider to moisten the pie, then an entire squash, followed by a bowl of salad, a whole turkey!! That lady just kept on eating!! Ask your child what happened to the Old Lady at the end of the book.  Do you think she was full?

Brinley was our snack leader today.  She brought wheat thins and cheese cubes.  Thank you, Brinley!

Happy Thursday!

It was so nice to see everyone wearing Brown today.  The students get so excited when they are all wearing the same color!

Today was our Cooking Day, we made Banana Muffins!  We mashed bananas, added maple syrup, butter, and an egg.  We had to use our muscles to get all the lumps out of the bananas. Once we had all of our wet ingredients mixed it was time to mix the dry ingredients.  We mixed whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder.  Then we combined all of our wet and dry ingredients.  It was really hard to stir all of the mixture.  Good thing we had lots of helpers with strong muscles to mix the batter!

We baked our muffins while we were having some play time. They smelled so good!  We were very excited to sit down and eat them.  They were sure yummy! I think it was the quietest we had been all day!!

We celebrated November birthdays today.  We sang Happy Birthday to Zoey!

We are looking forward to our upcoming field trip next week.  Please send in your permission slip if you haven't already done so!

Have a wonderful weekend!

What a Chilly Morning!

We had lots of excited boys and girls at school today.  I heard lots of stories about snowmen, snowball fights and shoveling!

I think the weather knew of my lesson plans today, as it was quite fitting.  Each year our school puts together a tree for the Festival of Trees.  The theme this year is Christmas Around the World.  The story that we are basing our tree off of is "The Spider's Gift: A Ukrainian Christmas Story" By Eric Kimmel.  Katrusya and her brothers are very upset that her family can't afford Christmas this year, due to poor crops and needing to save their money for food.  Katrusya and her Grandfather go into the forest and pick the most perfect tree, to decorate for Christmas.  The family strung buttons and placed it around the tree like garland.  'They were so proud of their beautiful tree.  During the night, Katrusya's mom let out a loud scream! Their beautiful Christmas tree was covered with spiders!!!  There were hundreds of baby spiders spinning their webs all over the tree, in hopes of finding food. Ask your child what the family decided to do with the Christmas tree.

Asher was our snack leader today.  He brought Wheat thins and cheese sticks.  Thank you, Asher!

As the weather is changing, I know that some of our students will be wearing snow boots to school.  Please send a pair of shoes with your child to change into.  We continue to run around and play inside, and it is awfully hard to run in snow boots.

I hope you all get to enjoy the snow!! Thursday is our cooking day, and birthday celebration.  Please wear BROWN to school!!

See you on Thursday!!

Happy Thursday!

It was so nice to have the sun shining, and it not be freezing cold outside.  You could even tell in the level of energy, that everyone was just more relaxed.

The Lions Club was here today taking pictures of the children's eyes.  I was really proud of how well they sat still, and let them take their pictures.  We will send home the results as soon as they send them back to us.

We worked today with the bingo daubers.  Our class filled in all the dots on a squirrel. I am continued to be amazed at the hand eye coordination of our class.  They take such pride in their work, and are happy to see their accomplishment.

Zoey was our snack leader today.  She brought wheat thins and juice.  Thank you, Zoey!

Happy November!!!

It was so nice to see everyone at preschool today.  I think that the excitement of Halloween has died down, and we have moved onto different things.

We have been practicing how to put on our coats.  Our class is really getting the hang of it, thank you to those of you who are practicing at home.  Today we introduced how to zip up our coats,  We have taught them that their zipper is a "track" the stopper of the zipper is the "station", and the zipper pull is the "train".    We make sure the train is all the way at the station, line the tacks up and take the train down the tracks.  I was so proud of how well everyone was working on zipping up their coats.

Since we had our coats on, we went outside and picked up leaves for our art table.  In our story today called "My Leaf Book" By Monica Wellington, the little girl decided to create a leaf book.  She took her leaf guide outside to look at all the different trees and leaves.  Some of the leaves were yellow, some were orange, some were brown, there may have even been some purple leaves.  There were also leaves of different shapes.  Ask your child what different shapes of leaves were in the book.

Remy was our snack leader today.  He brought cuties, string cheese and teddy grahams.  Thank you Remy!

Please send in your Lions Club vision screening forms, if you haven't already.  They will be here on Wednesday to screen our class.

Snow What?!?

We had some pretty excited children at school today, talking all about the snow!!  They immediately thought we should go outside and make a snowman! I'm not sure Mrs. Youngbauer and I are ready for that quite yet!

We learned how to play a new game today.  Musical chairs!!  I was so proud of everyone while we were playing the game.  Nobody had hurt feelings, if there wasn't a chair for them.  When they did get out, they cheered on their friends still left in the game.  They had so much fun, that they asked if we could play it at our Halloween party on Thursday.

Our story today was "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything" By Linda Williams.  A brave old woman begins a walk in the forest where she meets two big shoes.  Further down the path, a pair of pants, a shirt, two gloves a hat and a pumpkin head come into sight, each trying to frighten her.  When she's back inside her cottage, a KNOCK KNOCK challenges her to open the door.  It was all of the items that she found on the path! Do you think they were able to scare her?  Of course not!! She wasn't afraid of anything! The pumpkin was sad, so the little old lady whispered in his ear.  Ask you child what the little old lady said to the pumpkin.

Savannah was our snack leader today.  She brought cheese sticks and mandarin oranges.  Thank you, Savannah!

Thursday is our Halloween party,  please send your child either with our in their costume.  We are going to have so much fun!

Happy Thursday!!

Thank you to all who came Tuesday night for conferences.  It was so nice to see everyone, and share things about your wonderful children.

With the weather changing, we have more and more children coming to school with coats on.  One of our goals is to make our students more independent.  We have been practicing how to put on our coats.  The way that we have taught the children, is to lay the coat on the floor, with the tag and hood by their toes.  Then make two fists, and put them into the sleeve holes, flip the coat over their head and put it on! The sense of accomplishment on their faces, is amazing!  Next week, we will start learning how to zip our coats.

Since we had worked so hard putting our coats on, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and played outside!  It was so nice to get some fresh air and run around!!

Our story today was "Froggy Picks a Pumpkin" By Jonathan London.  Froggy and he friends enjoyed a trip to the pumpkin patch.  Froggy can't to pick a pumpkin, carve it into a jack o-'lantern and enjoy a big slice of pumpkin pie.  Froggy goes and picks the most perfect pumpkin to take home, as he is carrying it to his class something happens!! Ask your child what happened to Froggy's pumpkin.

Sarvesh was our snack leader today.  He brought go gurt and nutri grain bars.  Thank you, Sarvesh!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! See you next week!

What a beautiful day!

It was so nice to see so many smiling faces today at preschool.  You could tell that everyone was excited to be with their friends!

Today we worked at our table tops. Everyone was given a bingo dauber and a picture of a leaf.  I was blown away at how well everyone did with putting the bingo dauber on the spots inside the leaf.  What great hand eye coordination this class has!!

Since it was so windy outside, we decided to create some wind inside.  We used the parachute to go high in the sky, and low to the ground.  When we went fast, the wind blew in our faces.  Our favorite part was waving to all of our friends under the parachute!!

Our story today was "There was an old lady who swallowed a bat" By Lucille Colandro.  This crazy old lady swallowed a bat, an owl, a cat, a ghost, a goblin, some bones, and a wizard.  What do you think happened to the little old lady about she swallowed the wizard?  Ask your child about the silly ending!

What a windy chilly day!!

Keaton was our snack leader today.  He brought apples and danimal yogurt.  Thank you, Keaton!

As the weather continues to change, we will still be going outside as much as possible.  Please send your child to school with a jacket of some sort.  We will also be starting to learn how to put on and zip our coats ourselves.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!  See you on Monday!

Happy Tuesday!

The seasons have definitely started to change!  I think our days going outside to play are starting to be limited.  Please continue to send your child in a light jacket if possible.

Our story today was "We are going on a leaf hunt" By Steve Metzger.  There are lots of beautiful leaves to find! Three friends have a big adventure hiking over a mountain, and through a forest to collect leaves of all kinds and colors.  Ask your child what the children did with all of the leaves that they collected.

After we read our story, we went on a leaf hunt of our own.  There were lots of different colors, sizes and types of leaves.

Matthew was our snack leader today.  He brought granola bites and milk.  Thank you, Matthew!!

I hope you are all able to enjoy the sunshine today!!

Welcome to October!

Today it felt like the perfect fall day.  We had lots of laughter and conversations about our field trip to the pumpkin patch.  I think that farmer Gene has become quite the celebrity in our class. I heard that some of your pumpkins have been painted, or covered with stickers.  How much fun!

Even though the air was a little crisp, we spent some time outside.  It was nice to get some fresh air and run around after the rainy cold weekend we had.

Our story today was called "Pumpkin Countdown" By Joan Holub.  Fall has come, and what better way to celebrate than a field trip to the pumpkin patch! From 20 name tags on coats all the way down to 1 last pumpkin song, the class counts everything in sight!  The class had so much fun with the rhyming words, and counting in the book.

Jamie was our snack leader today.  He brought applesauce and string cheese.  Thank you, Jamie!

Wednesday is our Birthday and Cooking Day. It is also ORANGE Day!  I can't wait to see what fun orange things everyone wears.

In your child's bag today, you will find a paper with the code to log into the website to view the proofs for your child's school pictures.

See you on Wednesday!!

Happy Monday!

What a beautiful day!!  It was so nice to see everyone at school!  We decided to take advantage of this nice weather today and play outside!!  It sounds like we have more rain headed our way,  its been quite wet lately.

We have been talking about our upcoming field trip to the pumpkin patch.  When we go to the farm we are going to meet Farmer Gene.  Farmer Gene grows all different crops, especially pumpkins!  Today we read a story called "Its Pumpkin Time".  In our story a family plants seeds in the summer, and waters their crops.  Soon, little sprouts come up and those sprouts then turn to yellow flowers.  Then the pumpkins start to grow!!  Ask your child what color the pumpkins start out being.

Holden was our snack leader today.  He brought cheese sticks and clementines.  Thank you, Holden!

Information regarding our field trip on Wednesday went home today.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  It sounds like it could be wet and muddy on Wednesday, so you might want to wear some old shoes or rain boots.

It was so nice to see everyone last night at Open House.  I loved seeing how excited the class was to show their families around our school!

The weather was beautiful, and we needed some fresh air!  It was so nice to run around and burn off some energy.

We have started to talk about our upcoming field trip next week.  I think everyone is very eager to go to the pumpkin patch and meet Farmer Gene.  Our story today was "Apples and Pumpkins"  It is a cute story about a family that went to visit a farm.  While they were there they picked apples from the apple trees and pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Ask your child what they did with the apples and pumpkins when they got home.

Haiden was our snack leader today.  She brought yogurt and bananas.  Thank you, Haiden!!

Everyone looked so nice today for picture day!!  I was so proud of how well everyone did getting their pictures done.  There were lots of very nice smiles happening!

Since everyone looked so nice, we spent our day inside.  We danced our giggles and wiggles out, and played with some of our table top activities.

Our story today was "Pete the Cat; I Love My White Shoes" By James Dean.  Pete the Cat strolls down the street singing, "I love my white shoes, I love my white shoes, I love my white shoes.  Then he steps in a huge pile of strawberries that turn his shoes RED! Did Pete Cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song......I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes. Oh no!! Pete stepped in a pile of Blueberries!!!! Ask your child what other things Pete stepped in! Did Pete ever get sad?

Happy Tuesday!!

We had some very excited preschoolers today at school!  It sounds like everyone had a wonderful weekend, and spent some time outside!

We are working really hard learning our symbol at school.  Ask your child what the symbol next to their name is.  I've also noticed how well we are doing learning the names of our friends in our class.  You can see how excited the children get when their classmates call them by name.

We had so much fun playing outside, and burning off some energy. It is so much fun hearing all of the laughter and conversations happening between each other.

Our story today was "Llama Llama Time To Share" By Anna Dewdney.  Llama was having a friend over to play.  They were doing a great job getting along, until his friend started playing with Llama's doll.  They got into a tug of warm and tore the arm off of Dolly! Mama Llama fixed Dolly up, and put her on the stairs so they wouldn't get into a fight over her again.  Ask your child if Llama and his friend were able to start sharing.

Happy RED Day!!

Everyone was so excited to show off all of their red clothing today! Some of us were covered head to toe in red!

The weather was so nice, and we had lots of wiggles to get out of our system today.  The playground was calling our names!!  We played with the building blocks and made huge towers, went super fast on the bikes, had a tea party on the tables and played some games of catch.  It was so nice to get some fresh air, before it started to get really warm today.

Our story today was "We Don't Eat Our Classmates"By Ryan T. Higgins.  Its the first day of school for Penelope Rex, and she can't wait to meet her classmates.  But, its hard to make human friends when they are so darn delicious!! That is, until Penelope gets a taste of her own medicine and she finds that she may not be at the top of the food chain after all.....she meets Walter, the class fish.  Ask your child what Walter did to make her realize its not polite to eat your friends.

Today was our Birthday/Cooking Day!!!  For our cooking activity, we peeled bananas, added two chocolate chip eye, some wheat thin cracker scales, and pretzel legs.  Can you guess what we made?!? DINOSAURS!!!! And, boy were they tasty!! Everyone did such a great job peeling their bananas and putting their dinosaurs together.  We didn't have any birthdays in September to celebrate, but that not a reason to pass up a birthday brownie! Boy, were they tasty!! Some of us had more on our faces, than in our mouths!

I hope you all had a wonderful week, and enjoy your weekend!!
