Happy Tuesday!!!

I hope you were all able to take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend. I'm so glad that we were able to dodge all of the snow that they thought we were going to get.

Today we read the story "The Rainbow Fish" By Marcus Pfister.  This story is about a fish with shiny, multi-colored scales named the Rainbow Fish.  He had blue, green and purple scales, and he also had beautiful shiny silver glittery scales. All the other fish thought they were so beautiful.  When the little blue fish asked the Rainbow fish if he would share his silver scales with him, he said "no"!  The other fish decided that they didn't want to play with the Rainbow fish anymore, since he wouldn't share.    Rainbow fish was sad that he didn't have anyone to play with.  The wise old octopus told the Rainbow fish, that if he would share and be nice to others that maybe his friends would like to play with him and he wouldn't be so lonely. He decided to take the octopus' advice, and share a silver scale with the little blue fish.  Once, he saw them sparkling in the water, he realized that it was ok to share his scales.  Ask your child what the Rainbow fish decided to do with all of his glittery scales.

Today we made our own rainbow fish.  We practiced using the eye droppers in watercolors, Our fish look so beautiful, and we can't wait to show them off at Grown-Up day.

Brinley was our snack leader today.  She brought cheese cubes and crackers.  Thank you, Brinley!!

I can't wait to see everyone on Thursday for "Grown-Up Day", we have some very excited children!

Happy Thursday!!

Even though its cold outside, its so nice to see the sun shining!! It makes this weather a little more enjoyable!

Our story today was "Leonardo the Terrible Monster" By Mo Willems.  Leonardo is truly a terrible monster-terrible at being a monster that is.  No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to frighten anyone.  Determined to succeed, Leonardo sets himself to training and research.  Finally, he finds a nervous little boys, and scares the tuna salad out of him! But, scaring people isn't quite as satisfying as he thought it would be.  Leonardo realizes that he might be a terrible, awful monster.  Ask your child what Leonardo realizes that he could be instead.

We played the balloon waddle game today.  It was so much fun to watch our friends try to waddle around the room as fast as they can, without dropping the balloon out of their legs.

Asher was our snack leader today.  He brought apples and peanut butter.  Thank you, Asher!!!

Notes went home today about "Grown-Up Day" that is happening next week.  We are all excited to have our special visitors in our classroom.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  See you next week!!

Happy Wednesday!!

It was so nice to finally see you all this week!!  I think we all were so happy to be back at school today.

Today we played the garbage game. Don't worry, we didn't play with real garbage!  We had two teams, and the object of the game is to have your side of the room clean. So, you have to throw your garbage (bath poofs) over to the other side!!  There was so much laughter in the room, you couldnt help but smile!

Finally a sunny day!!

It was so exciting to see the sun shining outside this morning when we came to school!

Today we played the garbage game. Don't worry, we didn't play with real garbage!  We had two teams, and the object of the game is to have your side of the room clean. So, you have to throw your garbage (bath poofs) over to the other side!!  There was so much laughter in the room, you couldnt help but smile!

Our story today was "How do Dinosaurs say I'm MAD?" By Jane Yolen.  When little dinosaurs get angry, they sometimes misbehave.  Do they throw toys, or kick chairs? Do they throw a dino-sized fit when Mom and Dad tell them no?  No, Dinosaurs don't!  They say they are sorry, and pick up their toys and make everything right.  They use their words, and not their hands when they are upset.  This story got a lot of conversations going about how we can try and control our actions.

Today we had wheat thins and cheese sticks for snack.

I hope all enjoy this sunshine, see you on Thursday!!

Happy (Preschool) Valentine's Day!!

We had some very excited preschoolers today!! You would have thought it was Christmas!  Everyone was looking forward opening their cards from all of their friends.

Our story today was "There was an old lady who swallowed a rose" By Lucille Colandro.  That crazy old lady was back again!!  She swallowed a rose, some lace, some glitter and some candy.  Boy, was she crazy!!  Ask your child what the old lady made at the end of the book.

Today we played musical hearts, but unlike musical chairs nobody got out!!  We just took hearts away, and everyone had to stand in a hearts.  By the time we were done, we had one heart and 16 friends standing in the heart trying not to fall down!! It was VERY silly!!

We had some yummy cookies and juice today.  Thank you to all the parents that donated!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and stay warm!

I think I saw the sun peeking out!!!

It sounds like everyone had a nice weekend spent with family.  There is lots of excitement in the air with Valentine's Day coming up!  Thank you to everyone who sent in their Valentine's.

Since all of our valentines were coming in, we need to get our mailbags ready.  Today at our table tops, we decorated our bags.  I can't wait for you all to see them!

Our story today was "The Valentine Bears" By Eve Bunting.  Mr. and Mrs. Bear have never celebrated Valentine's Day because they hibernate in winter.  But, this year Mrs. Bear decides that things will be different, so she sets her alarm clock for February 14th.  Mrs. Bear is so excited when the alarm goes off and its time for Valentine's Day.  However, Mr. Bear is a hard bear to wake up!!  Ask your child if Mrs. Bear was ever able to wake Mr. Bear from his slumber.

Zoey was our snack leader today.   She brought wheat thins and juice!  Thank you, Zoey!!

See you all on Thursday!!

Its Pinkalicious Thursday!!

It was so fun seeing everyone wearing pink today!!

We have started talking about the square.  How many sides it has, if the lines are the same size, and where you see them in our classroom.  Today at our table tops we practiced tracing, connecting and drawing squares.  I was really proud of how well everyone did.

We used our movement cube today. We shoveled snow, waddled like penguins, floated like snowflakes, rolled like snowballs and a few other actions.

Our story today was "One Zillion Valentine's" By Frank Modell.  Valentines are for everybody....but to get them, you have to give them.  So two friends, Marvin and Milton, make one zillion valentines-more than enough for everyone in their neighborhood.  Their plan to get a valentine works-but not quite in the way they expected!

Today was our cooking day.  We made cheese sandwiches!! Can you guess what shape they were in?!?  You all now have sandwich masters living at your homes!!

Please continue to send in your valentines! We are making our mailbags on Tuesday!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

Welcome to February!!!

I hope you all had a nice weekend, and were able to enjoy the sunshine we had!

Today we practiced our cutting skills.  We had lines that we traced with our fingers, then with a crayon and finally we cut the lines with our scissors.  We are certainly coming a long way with our cutting skills!

Our question of the day was "Can you do a somersault?"  We had so many excited children to show off their somersaults, that we brought out our tumbling mat.  We also added a tunnel at the end of the tumbling mat to crawl through.  It was so much fun!

Our story today was "How Do Dinosaurs Stay Friends?" By Jane Yolen.  When little dinos start to fuss and fight, they find a way to make things right.  And that is how their problem ends: they share, they hug, they stay good friends.  We have been talking a lot about being kind, being a friend and being brave.

Today for snack we had oranges and cheese sticks.

We have already had some valentine's sent in.  Please continue to send them in for our party next week!
